Parenting Group: Don't Give up on Haitian Adoptions

February 8, 2010

BOISE, Idaho - The message is "don't give up," when it comes to helping children in Haiti. The controversy surrounding a group of Idahoans facing charges for taking children out of that country might be seen as discouraging to those who were thinking about going through the legal process, which is long and costly.

Samantha Gray, executive director of Attachment Parenting International, says they don't want that to happen, and are encouraging patience for those interested in becoming parents to Haitian children.

"I know with Haiti that's a very complicated issue, and it will take time before people can see what happens there and the ways we might be able to help."

In the meantime, Gray is advising families that want to help right away to contact humanitarian organizations, local groups or faith communities that are collecting cash and supplies for Haitian earthquake recovery.
