MILWAUKEE, Wis. - One of "Bambi's Bombers," former Brewers All-Star Larry Hisle, is going to bat for Christmas Seals this year as Wisconsin's campaign chairman for the American Lung Association. Hisle says Christmas Seals help fund research and improved treatments for the 35 million Americans with chronic lung diseases.

"And what is truly wonderful is that – with information, with funds – we can eradicate the majority of these illnesses."

The theme of this year's Christmas Seals campaign is "Celebrate Another Year." Hisle, in his role as Youth Outreach Manager for the Brewers, tells young athletes to avoid things that will give an advantage to those with whom they are competing.

"Cigarette smoking is at the top of the list. I do everything I can to prevent young people from partaking in that activity."

He says each day, nearly 1,000 kids become regular, daily smokers, and many will eventually die as a result of their addictions.

Contributions and Christmas Seals orders can be made online, at www.ChristmasSeals.org. Hisle says donations are used to help people quit smoking and to fight second-hand smoke, childhood asthma, and air pollution.
