Campaign Promotes Grand Canyon, All National Parks

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. - A national campaign is getting underway this week to encourage people in Arizona and around the U.S. to visit and enjoy the nation's 400-plus National Parks and related National Park Service sites.
Emily Davis, public affairs specialist at Grand Canyon National Park, says National Park Week is encouraging Americans to discover and rediscover their National Parks. She says a recently-launched website called findyourpark.com is meant to reach younger people, and those who may not know much about National Parks.
"We want to get people of all ages, but especially the millennial generation to connect with National Parks and state parks," says Davis, "and really just get outside to learn what this country has to offer."
The Find Your Park website allows users to input a zip code or park name to search for National Parks. Davis says it's part of a growing promotional campaign in advance of the National Park Service's centennial celebration next year.
As part of the effort to connect with younger Americans, Davis says findyourpark.com also has a social media component that allows users to share their stories.
"Share your photos, or if you want write up something about your experience, that's great too," she says. "It's for anybody from any park or monument that they've visited."
Davis says the website is also helpful for people who may be new to an area and want to learn more about the National Parks in that region.
