Uber se asocia con la AARP para contratar choferes “Senior”

Las organizaciones ”Life Reimagined” (La Vida Re-imaginada), subsidiaria de AARP, y Uber de San Francisco, hacen equipo para ofrecer más oportunidades de empleo a los adultos mayores como choferes de Uber.

La empresa afirma que, a nivel nacional, necesita agregar cientos de miles a su fuerza de trabajo. Por tal motivo, “Life Reimagned” ofrecerá talleres en todo California además de información en línea, para que la gente pueda comenzar. Así lo explica Adam Sohn, vicepresidente de iniciativas estratégicas para “Life Reimagined”.

“Pensamos que sería una oportunidad realmente positiva para que la gente de la comunidad “La Vida Re-imaginada” gane un ingreso adicional, para que se vuelvan más empoderados – y tal vez empiecen su negocio propio con sólo tomar su auto y salir a la calle.”

Uber dice que actualmente más de la mitad de sus choferes tienen más de 40 años, y el 24 por ciento más de 50. Para calificar como chofer Uber necesita seguro, un historial limpio de manejo y un auto que sea de un modelo de menos de 10 años.

Sohn dice que los estudios muestran que la gente mayor es más cuidadosa al manejar que los conductores jóvenes, lo que les hace candidatos ideales para manejar para Uber.

“La organización Uber también está emocionada por el nivel de compromiso de estos conductores con más experiencia, y por el nivel de seguridad que disfrutarán sus pasajeros.”

Parte del nuevo acuerdo es que los conductores que se inscriben a Uber a través de “Life Reimagined” reciben un bono de 35 dólares tras completar sus primeros 10 viajes. La información esta en las páginas Web de Uber y de “La Vida Re-imaginada”.
