NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Many Tennesseans continue to be wary, even anxious, about the health care reform legislation currently being debated in Washington. To offer an insider view of the action, Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA, will address regional conferences of the Tennessee Health Care Campaign tomorrow in Cookeville and Knoxville.
The group's communications director, Susan McKay, says Pollack has been directly engaged in the negotiations between the White House, Congress and health care providers.
"He's going to lay out specifically what's good for Tennessee and try to clear away some of the myths and misconceptions that have been out there about what the health care reform bill really does."
Pollack's national vision of the health care problem gives him a unique perspective, adds McKay.
"Health care is such a big issue and it's such a complex issue that no state can really do it alone."
Pollack speaks Saturday morning at Cherokee Health System in Knoxville; then at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center in the afternoon. The conferences, titled Putting the Pieces Together: What Will National Health Reform Mean for Tennessee?, are the first of eight to be held around the state in the coming weeks.
