NH "Cookie Mom" Serves up Yummy Ideas for Voters

April 24, 2007

Concord, NH - Presidential candidates are being followed around New Hampshire by "Cookie Mom," a New Hampshire woman who hands out frosted cookies to voters in the crowd, along with information about the federal budget. "Cookie Mom" is Christine Frydenborg of Hooksett, and she says the Pentagon budget could do with $60 billion less, and still not impact important support for the troops.

“The $60 billion figure is money that is just spent on cold war weapons and more nuclear weapons.”

"Cookie Mom" was cooked up by Priorities NH, a group focused on educating the public about the federal budget, and pushing for more investment in health care, education, energy independence and deficit reduction without raising taxes.

"Cookie Mom" wants voters to ask tough questions about accountability in the Pentagon budget.

“Why are we wasting this $60 billion when there are so many other departments and services that need those funds?”
