Health Care and Financial Security: Iowa's Most Compelling Issues

More than a dozen organizations in Iowa have joined the “Divided We Fail” campaign to raise awareness among politicians about the twin problems of health care and financial security. There will be a town hall style conversation today in Des Moines to discuss those issues.

Bruce Koeppl, Iowa manager of the AARP campaign, says it's a unique opportunity for a civil discussion.

“It's not one side is right, one side is wrong. This is really an opportunity for citizens to share ideas and talk about solutions in an environment that is respectful.”

The results of these meetings will be delivered to the presidential hopefuls as they crisscross the state.

“We are going to create a summary of what we've heard, try to get the candidates to give us answers and then hold them accountable.”

More that 100 Divided We Fail events will be held in the early primary states as a way to seek action and answers from candidates, elected officials and the business community. For information on the dates and locations visit
