Million Doors for Idaho

September 19, 2008

Boise, ID – One million doors in one day. Boise is part of a nationwide action tomorrow calling for the United States to bring troops home from Iraq within a year--a timetable outlined as "safe and orderly" by former Reagan Administration Defense Secretary Lawrence Korb. Volunteers will knock on one million doors across the country, asking people to sign a petition supporting the idea. Liz Paul is organizing the Boise event.

"These aren't paid, professional canvassers selling something. They're not asking for money or anything like that. They're just people so committed that they're willing do this."

Paul says polls show a majority of Americans want the Iraq War to end, either because of the lives lost or the cost.

"The short answer is that it's not working. It's not good for America."

Supporters of a long-term United States presence in Iraq say it's a commitment to fighting terrorism and preventing civil war in the country.

Information about the action is available online at www.milliondoorsforpeace.org.
