Denver, CO – Colorado voters have been vanishing from the election rolls, according to election protection groups that filed suit on Friday. They are asking a federal court to reinstate thousands of voters purged from the state's registration lists by the office of the Secretary of State, which oversees election matters.

Jenny Flanagan, executive director of Common Cause Colorado, one of the watchdog organizations bringing the lawsuit, recommends voters check on their county's website to make sure they are still on the election rolls.

"People should make sure that they're registered, and if they're not and they think they should be, they can contact their county clerk's office and try to provide the information that's necessary before going to the polls."

Flanagan says to remember that you don't have to feel like you're on your own when you vote.

"There are resources like the 866-Our-Vote number out there, so that if anyone runs into any problems, they have that protection."

She says Colorado's ballot is intimidating enough this year without having to worry about registration issues. She advises knowing what to expect in the voting booth.

"Bring a sample ballot to the polls, because the ballot is so long and there are so many questions and ballot measures. The more prepared you are, the better the voting process will be."

More information is available at www.justvotecolorado.org. Any voting difficulties or irregularities can be reported to 866-OUR-VOTE.

The full legal complaint is at coloradocommoncause.org.
