Innecesarios los cortes al presupuesto de educación en Idaho

Boise, ID- Viene el macheteo del presupuesto y la creatividad puede que sea clave para asegurar que el presupuesto para las escuelas públicas de Idaho no reciba cortes. Entre el paquete de estímulo económico del gobierno federal y los fondos para un día triste de Idaho, la Asociación de Educación de Idaho calcula que no debería de haber cortes al presupuesto de las escuelas públicas. Por otro lado, el Superintendente de Instrucción Pública del Estado Tom Luna, predice cortes al presupuesto aún con el dinero federal que viene, el cual dice no será suficiente.

Presidenta de la Asociación de Educación de Idaho Sherri Wood, dice que el dinero federal más los fondos para un día triste de Idaho podrían salvar este presupuesto. Explica que los presupuestos escolares en Idaho ya están diluidos, así que cortes podrán poner la calidad de la educación en riesgo.

"Esperamos explorar todas las opciones que tenemos disponibles antes de comenzar a hablar de cortes al presupuesto. Creemos que existen maneras que podemos revisar. Aquí en Idaho tenemos un número grande de estudiantes por salón de clases. Estamos en el 47avo lugar en cuanto a la cantidad de dinero que gastamos por alumno. Así que no se trata de estar cortando algo que nos sobra."

También menciona Wood que el dinero federal y los fondos para un día triste pueden sostener los fondos de las escuelas hasta el año 2011, año en el cual predice el Superintendente Luna que los ingresos del estado habrán regresado a sus apropiados niveles.
