“Just for Iowa” Website on Health Care Reform

June 4, 2009

Des Moines, IA – Where does healthcare reform legislation stand, and what are members of Iowa's congressional delegation saying about it? For answers to those questions and others, Iowans can visit a new Web site created by the Child and Family Policy Center (CFPC).

"National Health Reform: Iowa's Role" is online at www.cfpiowahealth.wordpress.com. According to CFPC Senior Health Policy Associate, Carrie Fitzgerald, the goal is to provide a useful tool for Iowans who may be having a tough time trying to keep up with the developments on this major issue.

"What we're doing is trying to put together a site that will help people get through all the information on national healthcare reform. There's so much coming out, and we want to have a place to go to sort through it."

Fitzgerald expects healthcare reform bills to be marked up soon in both the U.S. House and Senate, and says the Web site will keep voters up-to-date on what state senators and representatives are doing.

"We'll show linkages to all our federal delegation, of course, but also to what their committees are putting out; what our members are saying, and how they are responding to healthcare reform."

She also believes members of the Iowa delegation will play key roles in the healthcare reform debate - and when they do, the new Web page is ready to report it.
