Boise, ID – Más de 10 mil educadores de todo el país discutirán temas de interés, este viernes, en la National Education Association Representative Assembly (Asamblea Representativa de la Asociación de la Educación), en San Diego. El evento tiene como tema "Hope Starts Here" (La esperanza empieza aquí), y contará con al presencia de Sherri Wood, presidenta de la Idaho Education Association (Asociación de Idaho para la Educación), quien destaca la importancia de que se reautorice el acta "No Child Left Behind" (Que Ningún Niño Quede Atrasado). Agrega que esto es algo grande para Idaho, pues el estado recibe muchos recursos por tal concepto, aunque hay algunos problemas bien documentados en torno a esta ley.

"Las reglas y las normas hicieron que el examen pase a ser el componente más importante. No creemos que aplicar exámenes deba ser lo más importante de una educación pública."

Wood dice que los educadores se reunirán para hacer un torrente de ideas y encontrar cómo mejorar el índice de graduados de high school. Idaho tiene un 80 por ciento, que es bueno comparado con otros estados.

"Pero no se nos hace suficientemente bueno, porque podemos llegar a no perder niño alguno por deserción, así que eso también será tema de discusión en la asamblea representativa."

Entre los asuntos a discutir en la asamblea se incluyen el Acta "No Child Left Behind" (Que Ningún Niño Quede Atrasado), la contratación de más maestros, el financiamiento y el modo de prevenir la deserción escolar.
