Obama Cranks It Up in WI
Wednesday, September 29, 2010
MADISON, Wisc. - President Barack Obama stopped in Wisconsin Tuesday night and delivered a 40-minute address at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. About 30,000 people jammed Library Mall to hear the president. He vigorously defended his administration's record on the economy.
"We're no longer facing the possibility of a second depression, and I have to say Wisconsin that was a very real possibility when I was sworn in."
He encouraged younger voters to get out and have their say in November. Republicans have charged the president's economic plans have failed.
Obama said his opponents are distorting the facts when it comes to the economy and job creation.
"There are about three million Americans who wouldn't be working today if not for the economic plan that we put into place. Those are facts."
The President was joined on stage by Sen. Russ Feingold and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
