HARRISBURG, Pa. - They call it Toomeywatch: Two men without jobs who want to know U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey's ideas on job creation.

Dan Haney and Sean Wygant have been shadowing the Pennsylvania Republican at various events around the state, asking Toomey to hold a town hall meeting with jobless Pennsylvanians.

"Senator, you ran on bringing jobs to Pennsylvania. You haven't done that. You met with CEOs, business leaders, lobbyists, and you need to start working for us."

Toomey sits on the Senate super committee responsible for finding ways to cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. Wygant says Toomey's position makes him a pivotal player in what happens with the nation's unemployment problem.

"We need to know what his plan is. He's on the super committee now, and he can really make a great change in Pennsylvania."

Both men say they'll continue asking that Toomey talk directly with unemployed constituents, but that could get more difficult as Congress returns from its August recess. Haney says it's important Toomey know how challenging the job market is when you're on the outside looking in.

"What is out there right now is paying minimum wage, is 20, 30 miles away from my home, no benefits, and there's so many people that are unemployed; I'm lucky if my application even gets seen."

Toomey's office says he held a town hall gathering this week where both Haney and Wygant took part and asked questions. The senator is to hold another town hall meeting in Elk County today, but hasn't committed specifically to Haney's and Wygant's request.
