HELENA, Mont. - A sneak peek at the upcoming "Lifetime Financial Security" Conference in Montana: It's not rocket science. That doesn't mean it's not challenging, and the conference will help cheer people on no matter their age or stage in life. Elected leaders, nonprofit organizations and local experts will be at the event, along with keynote speaker Jean Chatzky. She's a well-known personal finance expert and AARP's financial ambassador.

Her goal is to make everyone feel comfortable talking about topics that typically make people uncomfortable.

"Based on both the education that we get and the way that we're wired, there is no reason on Earth to expect that you should be good with money," Chatzky declared.

The conference, April 28-29 in Helena, is sponsored by the Montana Financial Education Coalition and AARP Montana. You can register online for free events at MTMFEC.org.

Chatzky wants people to attend so they can master lifetime skills to avoid debt, or get out of debt, while also making a few personal changes in money management.

"If you can master four to eight basic habits and then wash-rinse-repeat like you do with your hair, you'll be fine," she said.

Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen and State Attorney General Tim Fox also will address the conference.

The full agenda is also at MTMFEC.org.
