En Denver, "Ocupa" con eventos por el Día de los Trabajadores

DENVER - Hoy es Primero de Mayo (May Day), Día Internacional de los Trabajadores, y el movimiento Ocupa Denver planea una serie de eventos para hacer de este día un movimiento de los trabajadores en los Estados Unidos. Ocupa Denver esta convocando hoy a huelga general. Rashan Bliss, uno de los organizadores del mitin de este día, dice que el Día Internacional del Trabajador inició en Chicago como fecha para celebrar la unión laboral; pero el mensaje fue cambiado durante la Guerra Fría y ahora el Primero de Mayo (May Day) para mucha gente es sinónimo de un sistema político en particular: el comunismo. Bliss dice que la idea que tienen es recordarle a la gente la herencia histórica y única del Primero de Mayo, Día de los Trabajadores.

"Esto ralamente se trata de que recordemos todos papel central que jugamos como trabajadores en esta economia que ha sido usada como arma en contra nuestra por el uno por ciento."

Dice que el 99 por ciento es crucial para mantener funcionando a las empresas - y al uno por ciento mismo. Denver celebrará un mitin que comienza a la 1:30 de esta tarde, en el parque Civic Center, y al menos un negocio, el Denver's Mercury Cafe, cerrará todo el día en señal de apoyo.

Ocupa Denver subió un audio a internet para explicar lo que puede hacer la gente incluso si no puede llegar al mitin. Este es un fragmento del mensaje:

"Lo que eso significa es no trabajes, cero escuela, no pagues las facturas, cero compras. Vamos, salgan y sean parte de su comunidad."

Bliss afirma que el movimiento Ocupa es, por naturaleza, incluyente y espera que otros grupos que no hayan participado antes en eventos de Ocupa vengan al mitin de hoy.

"Realmente, para mi esa es la fuerza del movimiento, porque el mensaje no es sobre un movimiento o una causa. Y no le creas a quien te diga lo contrario."
