Harrisburg, PA – It's the big speech tonight at the Republican National Convention as John McCain officially accepts the nomination. There are some things to listen for, according to economist Dr. Stephen Herzenberg with the Keystone Research Center. He says polls show the economy is the number-one issue across the land, and he hopes to hear McCain recognize the difficulties families have been facing over the past seven years.

"We're leaving families to fend for themselves in the global economy. With housing prices falling, middle class wealth is taking a hit. The middle class did not see its wages and incomes go up."

Dr. Herzenberg says a presidential transition is a perfect time for a restructuring of the U.S. economy so that everyone benefits in the country's success.

"What we need is a vision of how Pennsylvania, and America, will adapt to a global economy."

Dr. Herzenberg says Pennsylvanians should scrutinize Democratic nominee Barack Obama on that topic too, because he says details have been light from both candidates. He says candidates who talk about addressing wages, worker training, "green" jobs and unionization rights will win points with voters.
