Michayla (pronouns: she/her/hers) joined the team of Public News Service producers after 7 years working in both commercial and non-profit media in Ithaca, New York. Most recently, she served as a News director at WRFI Community Radio. There, she strived to lift up the voices of people who are not typically heard in mainstream media, on topics such as social and racial justice, public health, and climate change. She is also currently pursuing a Master's degree in health and science audio reporting at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. Originally from just outside Worcester, Massachusetts, Michayla grew up immersed in choir, orchestra, and musical theater - which translated to an affinity for radio storytelling and broadcast news.
