Biden administration officials traveled to Dearborn on Thursday to meet Muslim and Arab-American community leaders, in an effort to repair relations with this key Michigan constituency upset about his support for Israel's war in Gaza.

Protesters are telling President Joe Biden and his administration to take action before more people die in Gaza.

Imran Salha is the Imam of the Islamic Center of Detroit. He said he is abandoning Biden now for not taking action.

"I want the killing to stop," said Salha. "I want Israel to be held accountable. It's too late, and you were well aware of their indiscriminate killing. "

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hamoud met with the Biden officials - and posted on "X" following the two hour meeting, that he and other Dearborn leaders remained uncompromising in their demands for a permanent ceasefire and for ending what he called "unrestricted military support" to Israel.

He did say he would keep the dialogue open.

The Biden administration planned to center the meeting on outreach with the community, but Dearborn resident Salha said although he once believed in President Biden he now feels as though Palestinian and Arab-American voices are falling on deaf ears.

"I did actually vote for Biden last election, and we are now abandoning Biden," said Salha. "People of conscience and people of humanity and morals are choosing to abandon him, and they have not dealt with Palestinians fairly."

Hammoud also shared on "X" that he along with several other dissenting voices in Michigan will encourage voters to select "uncommitted" in the state's February 27 Democratic primary, unless there's a change of course in Gaza.
