Eric Zack

Eric brings nearly 30 years of experience working for and with colleges and universities. As the Academic & Research Program Director for Public News Service (PNS), he creates partnerships with institutions to engage their faculty, administrators, and experts to contribute to trusted, fact-based stories, primarily for radio, to inform the public at-large. Just before joining PNS, Eric was the CEO for PublicSource, a local, digital first news outlet focused on Pittsburgh and the western Pennsylvania region. Eric has spent half his career working with media outlets. In addition to PNS and PublicSource, he worked for the education division of NBC News and The Chronicle of Higher Education. The other half of his career was spent in higher education. Beginning his career as a fundraiser for the University of Michigan (his alma mater), he transitioned to other university alumni relations and fundraising positions, including positions at the University of Massachusetts, Suffolk University, and Georgetown University. His unique experience of working for diverse campuses along with a deep understanding of how institutions operated, led to a long career raising money and "friend-raising" for universities and consulting with academe on issues including faculty/staff recruitment, branding, teaching and learning, and ultimately, helping share all the great stories and research being done on campuses with the general public. Eric lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, Gwen, and pug Hutch. The latter makes frequent appearances on most Zoom calls.
