Denver, CO - They're asking young voters to "Get On the Bus" in Denver and ride it all the way to an informed decision on Election Day. It's "Young Voters Day" today at the Democratic National Convention. The groups Project Vote Smart and Rock the Vote say they will have their "Voter's Self Defense Bus" on display, to help voters of all political persuasions cut through the spin and rhetoric from both parties. Adelaide Kimball, with Project Vote Smart in Denver, believes having accurate information is critical to making an informed decision.

"We think the best defense is factual, relevant, accurate information about how a candidate will do the job if they're hired."

She says that information includes candidates' voting records, issue positions, public statements and speeches, campaign contributors, backgrounds and more. The bus will continue to travel across the country, stopping at the Republican convention, as well as other spots around the nation.

Kimball says the bus will end its trek in Washington, D.C., on Election Day to deliver messages collected from voters to the candidates.

"The messages will be from people who are telling the candidates what they think about their campaign behavior. What they think about them as candidates and how they're applying for these very important jobs."

The "Voter's Self Defense Manual" is available on the group's web site, http://votesmart.org.
