MEDFORD, Ore. -- La crisis del Coronavirus está trastocando la vida de las personas, pero algunos consejos pueden ayudar a que la gente se mantenga riendo mientras está en casa. Andy Luther es director en la organización "Jackson Care Connect" de Medford. Comenta que la distancia física es importante, pero los oregonianos deben conservar sus conexiones sociales. Agrega que la gente debe conectarse por teléfono o video-conferencias, y señala que las relaciones personales sólidas son críticas para una buena salud mental. Luther sugiere también mantener un horario consistente.

"Prueba algunos nuevos buenos hábitos, en cuanto a dormir lo suficiente. Asegúrate de hacer ejercicio - de nuevo, manteniendo una sana distancia física. Aún se considera bueno caminar o andar en bicicleta, mientras te mantengas a distancia de otra gente."

Luther dice que el tiempo extra que tiene la gente en sus manos puede ser usado para comenzar un nuevo "hobby". Agrega que quienes se estén sintiendo ansiosos deben considerar la yoga o la meditación, para aclarar su mente.

La nutrición es importante también. Franz Spielvogel, CEO de "Laughing Planet" (Planeta Risueño), Planeta Risueño, con locaciones por todo Oregon, está ofreciendo comidas gratis a estudiantes que formen parte de programas escolares de comida. El Director General de "Laughing Planet", Franz Spielvogel, dice que no hace falta prueba alguna de que los estudiantes son parte de algún programa. Agrega que la idea es aportar comida nutritiva en un momento en el que la gente puede estar volviendo a las comidas poco saludables.

"No todas las calorías son creadas igual, ¿cierto? Así que la idea es hacer alimentos ricos en calorías que sean también limpios y saludables."

Luther dice que muchas instalaciones médicas pueden ofrecer servicios de "telehealth" a gente que necesita ver a un médico. Agrega que si te sientes enferma o enfermo, es importante avisarles antes a los profesionales de la salud.

"Lo mejor es llamar al consultorio de tu médico. Ellos prefieren que la gente no se presente en el consultorio o cuidados intensivos, o en urgencias, a menos que sea una verdadera emergencia."
