A medida que se acercan las elecciones de mitad de período para el 8 de noviembre, ha habido un impulso urgente por una mayor educación de los votantes en Pensilvania, incluso en el último minuto.

El 71% de los votantes registrados de Pensilvania votaron en las elecciones generales de 2020.

We The People PA Action Campaign es un grupo de base que anima a todos a votar y asegura que sus votos contarán.

Su presidente, Marc Stier señala que el grupo no es partidista pero sigue de cerca algunas cuestiones que afectan a los funcionarios electos.

"El derecho al aborto. El segundo es la preservación de nuestra democracia - un partido que quiere dificultar el voto y no quiere financiar a los condados, para que podamos contar nuestros votos;" subraya Stier. "Y la tercera es realmente, ¿quién se beneficia economicamente?"

Stier añade que la votación anticipada está en marcha en el estado y que han visto un aumento de los votantes por correo. Si usted ya solicitó un voto por correo, debe ser recibido por la oficina electoral de su condado antes del 8 de noviembre.

Stier dice que otro tema crítico en Pensilvania es lo que se necesita para aumentar el salario mínimo y construir la economía del Estado de Keystone. Señala que hace 14 años no ha habido un aumento al salario mínimo en el estado, y dice que algunas personas se están trasladando para obtener mejores salarios.

"En el lado de la frontera de Nueva York, donde el salario mínimo ha subido, hay más puestos de trabajo que en Pensilvania." asegura Stier. "La gente se va de Pensilvania para ir a trabajar a Nueva York, en la frontera, porque alli hay muchos puestos de trabajo y se paga mucho mas."

El salario mínimo del estado de Pensilvania es de (7.25 $) por hora, es decir algo más que 15 mil dólares al año para un trabajador de tiempo completo. El salario mínimo se modificó por última vez en 2008, cuando se aumentó diez centavos por hora.
