McCain to Address Convention – Political Debate Continues Outside

St. Paul, MN – The Republican National Convention in St. Paul wraps up tonight with an acceptance speech by presidential nominee John McCain. Last night, delegates heard from his choice for vice president, Alaska governor Sarah Palin. Earlier this week, President Bush addressed the convention via satellite. While he wasn't there in person, the President has had a strong presence on the streets outside the convention, thanks to a 45-foot bus highlighting his record.
Spokeswoman Julie Blust says it's a "museum on wheels" traveling across the country.
"The purpose of the tour is to look at Bush's legacy as a failed legacy of an individual, and to also look at his allies in Congress that have supported his policies all along."
Blust says the bus features exhibits detailing the past eight years.
"We want to look at the failed conservative policies that he has represented and enacted, and make sure that we do not continue to make those same mistakes."
She says exhibit topics include the Iraq war, health care, the economy and the environment. Blust says the tour will reach 150 cities, the "hometowns of Bush's allies in Congress," before the fall election.
