Albuquerque, NM - La entrante administración de Obama dijo esta semana que quiere crear millones de nuevos empleos en un lapso de un par de años. Una coalición de grupos por la conservación del medio ambiente, incluyendo muchos que tienen capítulos en Nuevo México, están abogando para asegurarse que estos empleos sean de "camiseta verde."

Michael Casaus representa al Sierra Club en Albuquerque, quienes son parte de la coalición ambiental. Él dice que bajo su plan, el futuro de Nuevo México y el resto del país pueden ser impulsados por nuestro aire y sol.

"Cuando hablamos de utilizar el potencial de nuestras industrias renovables aquí en Nuevo México, en verdad estamos hablando de crear empleos y de mejorar nuestra economía."

El Sierra Club es uno de muchos grupos que están haciendo un llamado a la nueva administración a que pongan al frente un plan comprensivo para cambiar la energía, el combustible y reconstruir al país utilizando medios más eficientes y saludables para el medioambiente. Aunque críticos dicen que el gobierno al gastar en dichos programas puede que cause más deuda y más impuestos, la administración de Obama ya ha hecho una promesa a gastar parte del presupuesto en la infraestructura de los llamados empleos de camiseta verde.

Howard Kaplan es el Presidente del Center Advancing Sustainable Architecture (Centro para el Avance de la Arquitectura Sustentable). Él dice que una manera de poder estimular la construcción es la de tomar en serio implementar modos de construcción verdes a estructuras nuevas y existentes.

"Poniendo a la gente a trabajar haciendo eso puede crear una tremenda cantidad de empleos y revitalizar el sector de construcción, el cual ahora desafortunadamente se encuentra pasando una muy mala racha."

Kaplan dice que la administración de Richardson ha ayudado a Nuevo México ser líder en eficiencia-energética, y espera que esas pólizas continúen bajo el nuevo gobernador.
