Faltan voluntarios para la Venta de Libros de Planned Parenthood

DES MOINES, Iowa – La venta de libros de otoño que organiza la agrupación Planned Parenthood (Paternidad Planeada), una de las más grandes ventas de su clase, arranca el jueves en Des Moines pero todavía faltan voluntarios para llevarla a cabo.

Se pondrán a la venta miles de libros, DVD y muchas cosas más durante esta venta de otoño. Michele Guinn es presidenta asociada del evento y dice que la recolección de fondos capta cientos de miles de dólares, destinados a los programas que opera la organización Planned Parenthood of the Heartland (Paternidad Planeada de Heartland).

"Vendimos casi 450 mil dólares el año pasado, entre la venta de primavera y la de otoño, y todos los fondos son para el centro de educación y recursos de Planned Parenthood, que ofrece información adecuada según la edad a unos 60 mil niños, padres de familia y maestros."

Guinn dice que la venta comienza ya el jueves en los terrenos de la feria estatal, y todavía hacen falta voluntarios para asegurar el éxito del evento.

"Hay un turno corto de tres horas. La venta dura del jueves al lunes y como agradecimiento nuestros voluntarios pueden llevarse para ellos los libros que sobren al final."

Guinn agrega que este año volverán a poner a la venta un valioso libro de colección. Se trata de una copia autografiada del primer libro que escribiera Martin Luther King, "Stride Toward Freedom" (Lucha rumbo a la Libertad).
