100 Idaho Foster Families Needed - Love of Outdoor Adventure Required

June 8, 2007

One hundred Idaho foster families are needed this summer, and they must love outdoor adventures. The Idaho Conservation League is coordinating "adoptions" of roadless areas throughout the state that are at risk of being developed. Jonathan Oppenheimer with the League lists the qualifications for adoption.

“Make at least one trip to the area to document, take some photos, and to do just a short little report about what they saw and what they did.”

The governor's plan for roadless areas puts about 500,000 acres on the potential development list. All roadless areas remain open to hunting, camping, fishing and hiking.

Leslie Tengelsen of Boise adopted an area near Lowman, and she enjoyed her experience.

“Red Mountain is just a beautiful area with lots of wildflowers, and trails that are accessible for most users.”
