Narcisos: un rayo de esperanza para pacientes con cáncer

INDIANAPOLIS – Los Narcisos, flores asociadas con la llegada de la primavera, representan un rayo de esperanza y son una forma en que la Sociedad Americana de Cáncer (ACS, por sus siglas en inglés) siembra algo de ánimo. Los días de los Narcisos (Daffodil Days) es la colecta anual que ilumina hogares, centros de trabajo y unidades de cáncer con la brillante floración amarilla.

Durante más de 30 años, los American Cancer Society Daffodil Days (Días del Narciso de la Sociedad Americana de Cáncer) han compartido este símbolo de la primavera y han iluminado los días de muchas personas que se encuentran bajo tratamiento por cáncer.

Jodi Pickens, gerente en la American Cancer Society (Sociedad Americana de Cáncer), comenta que se pueden ordenar flores para uno mismo o para una persona amada... incluso, es posible enviarlas de forma anónima.

"Nuestro programa Regalo de Esperanza consiste en un donativo mínimo de 25 dólares, luego nosotros, como la Sociedad Americana de Cáncer, entregaremos de forma anónima un ramo de Narcisos y un florero que serán llevados a personas que estén bajo tratamiento de cáncer."

Usted puede comprar ramos de narcisos hasta el 9 de marzo, para que las flores sean entregadas en la semana del 19 de marzo, llamando al 800-227-2345.

Pickens dice que usted puede elegir entre conservar las flores o regalarlas; la decisión es suya.

"La gente puede ordenar un ramo de Narcisos, que es de 10 flores. Por un donativo de 10 dólares tendrán un ramo de esos 10 Narcisos recién cortados. Por un donativo de 15 dólares, obtienen el ramo de narcisos y un florero."

Pickens explica que también está la posibilidad de ser coordinador voluntario en los Días del Narciso, para tomar órdenes de flores y darle esperanza a la gente y a las familias que enfrentan el cáncer.

"Los narcisos, como ya se sabe, son de las primeras flores que aparecen en la primavera y ese bello y pequeño botón amarillo ha llegado a simbolizar la esperanza para los pacientes de cáncer."
