"Divided We Fail' Multiplies in Iowa

April 30, 2008

Des Moines, IA – Divided We Fail is multiplying in Iowa. The Divided We Fail coalition works to raise the issues of health care and long-term financial security before the fall elections, and campaign participation recently swelled by 8,000 in Iowa, with the National Federation of Independent Business Iowa signing on. NFIB State director Andy Warren says the issues directly affect Iowa's small businesses.

"National Federation of Independent Business has taken the stance that its time to let our policy makers know that doing nothing on health care is no longer an option."

Warren says small businesses are the backbone of Iowa's economy and the nation's, and can't be left out of the debate on such critical issues.

"The country's small businesses create two-thirds of all net new jobs and we need to be at the table as the health care discussion continues. "

Divided We Fail was originally launched by AARP, the Business Roundtable and the Service Employees International Union, and now includes Iowa businesses, colleges, chambers of commerce, and unions. Events will be held around the state beginning in the middle of May to gather public input on the issues of health and financial security.
