Candidates “Grilled” on the Menu Tonight in Lander

October 30, 2008

Lander, WY – Questions about water, roads, air quality and subdivisions will be on the menu tonight as candidates in Fremont County are grilled. Those running for Fremont County Commission and state legislative positions have volunteered to be in the hot seat to answer questions from the public.

Keri Foster with Wyoming Conservation Voters Education Fund organized the event. Foster says that while the presidential race is getting a lot of attention, it's the local races that affect day-to-day life in Wyoming. She says tonight the focus will be on "quality of life" issues.

"Some of the questions are going to be about development, such as subdivision laws. And other questions will be regarding energy policy."

Water quality and traffic also will be on voters' minds, Foster surmises. She says those are topics she has found people care about as she has gone door-to-door over the past six months talking to voters.

"It's fun going around and knocking on the doors of registered voters, trying to get people talking more about these issues, and getting people involved at the local level."

The Fremont County candidate forum begins with a meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. at the Lander Community Center.
