Organizaciones de Carolina del Norte están dando un paso adelante para hacer que los datos sean más accesibles para quienes los necesitan. Kate B. Reynolds, junto con el Instituto de Salud Pública y Datos Comunitarios de Carolina del Norte y organizaciones de base, han desarrollado una biblioteca de recursos de datos para apoyar a las organizaciones sin fines de lucro que trabajan para lograr resultados de salud positivos.

La Dra. Carla Norwood de Working Landscapes dice que esto es algo que pueden utilizar para incidir en su labor de acceso a los alimentos.

"Tener acceso a los datos a través de la Biblioteca de Recursos de Datos puede simplificar el proceso de acceso y uso de información a escalas que sean relevantes para las comunidades en las que trabajamos," asegura Norwood.

Norwood señala que encontrar datos sobre disparidades raciales o de pobreza en sistemas y resultados puede resultar difícil. Dice que la Biblioteca de Recursos de Datos agiliza este proceso y ayuda a crear soluciones para abordar estos problemas.

La organización de Norwood trabaja para ayudar a fomentar medios de vida sostenibles en el condado de Warren mediante iniciativas que promuevan los sistemas alimentarios locales, revitalizan pueblos pequeños y abordan el cambio climático. Dice que la biblioteca de recursos de datos también les ayuda a arrojar luz sobre necesidades inexploradas dentro de su comunidad.

"Y esas lagunas pueden estar en la geografía o pueden ser que tipos de personas están siendo atendidas o no por los programas o recursos," dice Norwood.

La biblioteca ofrece una serie de herramientas, incluidos recursos de recopilación de datos, informes y cuadros de mando, centrados en temas como salud rural, sistemas alimentarios y experiencias infantiles adversas.
